aurora and Caleb’s love story“No matter what happens, you are my light”Princess aurora Stewart and prince Caleb westergaard grew up together. The two bonded over the fact they had so much pressure to take over their kingdom, the heirs to their thrones. Over time, these two royals would form a bond like no other- always finding eachother in every royal event and sneaking away from guests to rendezvous with eachother. These two were childhood best friends with some sort of tension hinting at something more but they knew they could never be with eachother because of their royal duty.Later, When aurora prematurely inherits her throne- it brings tension and complexity to their dynamic. As aurora now had power and access to resources at a young age and Caleb still wanted to be reckless (as a teenager does). Aurora held resentment toward Caleb due to the fact she had to sacrifice for her youth for her kingdom and he continued to be young and impulsive. They started to act more so of colleagues at court- an obvious divide in maturity and power.When threats to her throne come flooding in to the young queen aurora, she had no choice but to seek refuge in the southern isles for they had way stronger military forces than her own kingdom. King sjoerd, being the selfish king he is- offered the alliance and all the resources that the southern isles can provide the northern isles; only if aurora were to have an arranged marriage with his heir- Caleb westergaard. Thus would secure a great future for the southern isles and the westergaards would have control over multiple kingdoms. Queen Aurora begrudgingly accepted the alliance and were to be officially engaged to the crown prince at the age of eighteen.although the two had unresolved feelings toward each-other, this engagement seemed to put more tension between the two. The royals constantly questioning if they were being courted out of necessity of the alliance or if the other actually felt the same. The two knew that anything could happen between then and the wedding (which was not set in stone) so if they had any problem, they could try to find another way to keep the alliance without the marriage. Not only that, but Caleb continued to be this young and carefree spirit; although this was the same prince that young aurora fell for- she could feel herself growing more cold and bitter toward the fact she would have to pick up for Caleb’s responsibilities and make up for his lack of experience when he is crowned king. But, she knows that if anything- he will only be king in title and that he holds no real responsibility to her kingdom in the end if he continues to be like this.This bitterness and stubbornness lasts for a couple years, especially since aurora starts to really adapt the darker westergaard attitude and manner the more time she spends in southern isles court. They have this deep yearning for each-other and yet they keep trying to find excuses to not marry each-other and keep prolonging the engagement. They dance around each-other- mainly because they don’t want to force the other to marry them if it was not their choice because they know they would be willing to marry for an alliance but not if it meant withholding potential happiness for the other. During the years of their engagement, they enjoy their company and have this inbetween of royal / colleague they are courting and childhood friends. It’s complex because there is so much unresolved tension but at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter because of their alliance and duty to their kingdoms.King sjoerd starts to really pressure the couple to marry. And finally the two have a moment that breaks the complex relationship they have had- they realize that they have feelings for eachother. Despite pretenses of whether Caleb is actually fit to be a king; aurora’s feelings for him are stronger than that. They agree to marry three years after they are engaged when aurora is at the age of twenty-one. It is the royal wedding of the century and Caleb is crowned king consort of the northern isles. Although he is crowned king, he is not given any real responsibilities due to the fact he has not matured enough.A year after their engagement, King sjoerd pressures the couple to reproduce and provide an heir. The two have been trying and were not successful until aurora had reached the age of twenty-three, being pregnant with their firstborn son. During her pregnancy, Caleb started to realize the weight of being a father and aurora started to trust him with more responsibilities as king consort since being pregnant limited her physical ability. Caleb started to really step up in preparation for their first child.Over the years, Caleb develops maturity and responsibility to finally become worthy of the title of king. During the years of conflict and growth, aurora really helps him in through it; sometimes with tough love. Their love blossoms and so does their growing family, they eventually have four children- crown prince James sjoerd westergaard, prince willem Alexander westergaard, princess Amelie Catriona westergaard, and princex junia Margot westergaard.A couple years after their last child’s birth, the great King Sjoerd westergaard had died and Caleb finally inherits the throne to the great westergaard name. They crown queen aurora and king Caleb westergaard the new rulers of the southern isles. The real title of being king of the southern isles enhances his own attitude and sole duty- becoming the king that aurora always saw in him since they were kids.The two of them lead the southern isles to a golden age of success, blossoming in to an era that the kingdom had never seen before. Their love unites the southern and northern isles together, as they finally see each-other as equals in power and their personal relationship. Together they are the formidable rulers of what is now called ‘the isles’ - a shorthand name of the united southern and northern isles.
